And Then One Day I Just Chose to be Happy

For some of us, perhaps many of us, it seems that life will always be a little more intense than the "norm". A bit heavier. A struggle.

Blue days will come upon us, unforeseen, and attempt to drown us in sorrow. Hardship will always play a role in all our endeavors. What seems too good to be true, will eventually be. Pain will haunt us. Love will break us.

For some of us, getting out of bed and facing the world will require courage and super-human strength on a daily basis. Letting love in, will have to be a conscious decision. And, letting go of pain may have to happen despite us. For some of us, nothing will be easy. Nothing will be simple. For some of us, it's a boxing match life where every turn you make and every step you take, you find someone or something trying to knock you down or put you out for good.

And yet some of us discover that most of our challengers have been our own fears and negativity. Our inner voices creating dysfunction where it has no place. Muddying the waters because that's all we know and expect. Putting up walls. Closing doors. Rejecting love and running towards deception. Denying possibilities and embracing the unachievable - simply to justify that unwillingness.

And yet some of us, hopefully many of us, will make magic out of anguish. We'll discover beauty in the monsters. We'll turn cries into music. We'll pen poetry out of pain. We'll learn to dance with the storms.

We'll find the way - our way.
