Feeling Irritable? Light an Orange Candle

Today I woke up feeling irritable and I couldn't pinpoint why. I immediately started cleaning my kitchen. For reasons I cannot explain, when I am upset I tend to clean. This was helping a bit, but I still had this lingering discomfort. I then decided to light an orange candle to break down the blues and bring out the cheer.

"Many of our healing needs can be met by the use of color to bring harmony and balance within the psyche and the body. The invisible vibrations of color can either relax or stimulate us according to the colors chosen for healing."*

I chose orange because it inspires creativity, the ability to speak one's mind, ambition, self-confidence, and cheer. The cheer part was important to me this morning.

I lit my candle, took a few deep breaths, and focused on cheer.

Something I have been mindful of as of late is to do something, anything; big or small, to alter any negative feelings. Sometimes it's blogging. Sometimes it's cleaning. Sometimes it's going for a brisk walk. Other times it's drawing, listening to a song I enjoy, or taking pictures. Today, I lit a candle. I'm still antsy, but lighting the candle has softened the edge.

I'm going to clean out my closet now :)
